Hunter / Jumper Training

Hugh White Training Stables is located at Riverside Equestrian Center, home of the beautiful Sonoma Horse Park, in Petaluma, California. HWTS offers horse training and lessons for riders of all ability levels.

A native of El Paso, Texas and a fourth-generation horseman, Hugh has been training hunters and jumpers and coaching students in the hunter, jumper and equitation rings for over 35 years. His program of classical training methods and sound horsemanship consistently produces winning horse/rider combinations.

Hugh's students and horses compete at all levels -– from local shows to the AA circuit, from the crossbar ring to the Grand Prix field. They attend a variety of A and B shows throughout California, including several held on-site at Sonoma Horse Park. Hugh excels in starting young horses over fences. He and has found, started and brought along countless "greenies" and has introduced many new riders to successful show careers.

Hugh's barn is a delightful mix of focused horsemanship and random silliness; a place where you're as likely to learn how to bodyclip artwork onto your horse's flank as you are to learn how to negotiate a medal course.
